From the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan to the breathtaking landscapes of the American Southwest, Jameson’s journey has been anything but conventional.
Serving as both a photographer and writer for Stoner Magazine, Jameson brings a unique perspective shaped by military service, personal resilience, education, and an unwavering curiosity about the world around him.
A U.S. Army combat veteran, Jameson completed two combat tours in Iraq and one deployment to Afghanistan. His journey has taken him from the streets of Baghdad, where he once sent artillery rounds downrange and kicked in doors, to exploring the diverse landscapes and cultures of the United States before eventually making New Mexico his home.
His transformation from combat soldier to scholar is a testament to perseverance and the power of reinvention. After years of overcoming adversity, Jameson graduated as Valedictorian from the University of New Mexico, demonstrating that our past does not have to define our future.
Beyond his professional photography, Jameson has dedicated his talents to meaningful causes. Through volunteer photography with The Taylor Foundation, he has helped raise awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among military veterans and first responders, using his camera as a tool for advocacy, understanding, and connection.
Outside of hiking, photography, and writing, Jameson has a deep passion for philosophy and the pursuit of knowledge. His philosophical interests span centuries and civilizations, drawing inspiration from the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu and his teachings on the Dao, the Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius, whose reflections emphasize resilience, discipline, and self-mastery, and his personal favorite, René Descartes, whose timeless declaration, “I think, therefore I am,” continues to inspire his curiosity about consciousness, identity, and existence.
For Jameson, life is an ongoing journey of self-discovery. Finding yourself takes time, and like any worthwhile quest, the road will challenge your character, test your resilience, and force you to question what you believe you know.
His philosophy is simple: Your experiences may shape who you are, but your choices determine who you become.
So embrace the journey, challenge your perceptions, and never stop discovering who you are.
Be that Functional Pothead, and own your day!
